Obligatory Post

I'm sure you've already heard, but it would be remiss of me not to mention that J.K. Rowling has announced the official title of her next Harry Potter book, Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince.

Don't get too excited though. J.K. has also said that the Half Blood Prince is not Harry or Voldemort. My friend Penny's first comment? "It's Ron." My money's on Colin Creevey.

Just in Time for My Own Mid-life Crisis

I read over the weekend that YA author Francesca Lia Block just sold her first adult novel, Necklace of Kisses. In it Weetzie Bat turns 40 and faces a mid-life crisis, escaping to a pink Beverly Hills hotel where magical creatures (a fawn bell-hop, a dress-knitting spider, and a captured mermaid) help her regain the magic of her life.

Get Your Own Damn House

I know, I know. It's been a long time since I've blogged, and now I'm coming out of the non-blogging closet to complain.

This morning I woke up earlier than normal, so I had a chance to watch a repeat episode of Buffy the Vampire Slayer on FX. This should have been a cause for celebration, right? Wrong! The episode they were showing is the one that I absolutely detest. The episode is from the very last season, and it is the one where everyone on the show votes Buffy off the island. Seriously. They vote her off the hell mouth island. No matter that her life has royally sucked for, oh I don't know, seven years, they show her absolutely no gratitude and kick her out of her own house. Which just goes to show that no matter what you do for people, they will still bite you in the ass if given a chance.

I'm going back to my closet now...

Field Trip Friday

Today's field trip is one that is near and dear to my heart. Every summer I look forward to the latest season of The Amazing Race, one of the best reality shows ever. The show features eleven teams of two people racing around the world for a cash prize of $1,000,000. The teams compete in thirteen legs that take them all over the world. In almost all the legs the last team that arrives at the pit stop is eliminated. Once the race is down to three teams, those teams compete in the final leg of the race. The team who makes it to the final pit stop first wins $1,000,000 and the hearts of America.

I love this show. I don't know if it is because I spent most of college traveling around the Midwest in a luxury van with Kirsten at the wheel, but this is the only reality show I have ever been tempted to apply for. The fifth season of The Amazing Race will premiere at 8:30 p.m. on Tuesday, July 6. As an extra special treat to make me forget (momentarily) that 24 won't be on until January 2005, the sixth season of The Amazing Race will be televised on Saturdays during the Fall Season. Until then, visit the official website to learn about this season's teams (NOTE: this information is suppose to be posted today).

Four Hours and Forty-Two Minutes

That is how long until I get to see Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban. Jealous? :-)

A New Look

Oddly enough, I have tired of the all pink all the time look of my blog. Who knew that would happen? Let me know what you think of my new look. I'm still tinkering with it.
