The Good, The Bad, and The Undead
by Kim Harrison

After striking out on her own to form an independent runner agency with partners Ivy and Jenks, Rachel Morgan is having money issues. When her most recent client refuses to pay, Rachel finds herself in a desperate situation. That isn't her biggest problem though. Someone is killing ley line witches, and the Federal Inderland Bureau has approached her about going undercover to find out who. When the clues start to point towards Rachel's nemesis Trent Kalamack as being the one responsible, Rachel jumps at the chance to put him away for good. But things are not as they seem, and before too long Rachel finds that she may be next on the killer's list.

Like Dead Witch Walking, The Good, the Bad, and the Undead is simply amazing. In her second novel Harrison has added more intrigue and nuance to an already richly detailed world. The strong cast of characters is made even stronger with the addition of master vampire Piscary. I highly recommend this book to all readers. This is an especially strong selection for readers who enjoy urban or dark fantasy. While the author does give readers some background to her world and it could be read as a stand alone, I recommend that readers begin with Dead Witch Walking before reading The Good, the Bad, and the Undead. The series continues with Every Which Way but Dead.
