Eleven on Top by Janet Evanovich
Stephanie Plum has finally decided to quit her job as a bond enforcement agent (aka bounty hunter). She doesn’t have a solid reason for quitting other than she is just tired of it all. Okay, she has been receiving some threatening notes lately, but what else is new? Hoping to lead a quieter life with a new employer, Stephanie soon learns that a quiet life is not meant to be as chaos tends to follow her no matter where she goes. Chaos is not the only thing in Stephanie’s life as the danger she thought she left behind when she quit her job is hot on her heels as someone from the past has is intent on getting his revenge. The threat to her gets closer each and every day. How long will it take before Stephanie’s past finally catches up with her?
The eleventh book in the Stephanie Plum series picks up very close to where Ten Big Ones left off. Maybe it's just me, but I got a vibe that Evanovich is either 1) looking to take the series in a new direction or 2) laying the foundation in preparation for wrapping the series up. This will be considered a must read for any fan of the Stephanie Plum series. The emphasis in this story is not so much on the mystery as it is on the threat to Stephanie's life. With this in mind I would not recommend this to readers who had not already read at least some of the Stephanie Plum books. Much of the humor and situations cannot be fully appreciated unless you are already familiar with the history of the characters involved.
The Library Diva recommended this on 6/19/05.
