The Bane Affair by Alison Kent
Christian Bane is a member of the Smithson Group, an elite team of secret agents/spys that specializes in the most covert of operations. His newest mission has him going undercover as Peter Deacon, front man for the international crime syndicate known as Spectra IT. Believing that Deacon has made a deal to purchase a backdoor into the CIA's data encryption program from scientist Dr. Wickham Bow, Christian's mission is to rescue a kidnapped computer programmer and ensure that the deal does not happen. Impersonating a sleazy womanizer who likes to dabble in kinky sex should be a piece of cake for someone with Christian's training, but the one thing he did not count on was Natasha Gaudet. As the goddaughter and assistant of the reclusive scientist, Natasha has a hand in much of what goes on at Dr. Bow's estate. But what role does she play in the deal that is about to go down? Does she even have one? While Christian in unsure of Natasha's guilt or innocence one thing is crystal clear to him: the growing attraction between the two of them is something that will not be denied.

The first book in the SG-5 series is a fast paced thrill ride that kicks off what is bound to be a popular series. Intriguing characters, edge of your seat moments, not to mention the super steamy encounters between Christian and Natasha will leave readers breathless for the next book in the series, The Shaughnessey Accord. I would recommend The Bane Affair to patrons who enjoy contemporary romance, as well as any patrons who enjoy reading romantic suspense. The Bane Affair is also an excellent recommendation for suspense readers, particularily those who are looking to branch their reading out into the romance genre.
